Hydrogen peroxide: This is another common ingredient used mostly in sanitizing sprays. Hydrogen peroxide is readily available everywhere for a very small amount. It can be mixed with a little water to make it last for a longer time. The reason behind adding a little quantity of hydrogen peroxide is to kill the bacterial spores that might contaminate the solution. Low concentrations are used as it is highly corrosive in higher concentrations.

Glycerol: Glycerol, also called glycerin, is another ingredient that can be used in sanitizers to keep the skin moisturised. Similar to Aloe vera, this also helps in preventing drying out of hands after use. It is called a humectant. A humectant is a substance used to retain moisture. It is often a molecule with several hydrophilic, that is water loving, groups. It is safe to use and cheaply available in local stores. It also has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. It is gentle on the skin and can be used in people who have sensitive skin. It should be noted that using a higher percentage of glycerin may add to the stickiness of the solution.
