It is often a molecule with several hydrophilic, that is water loving, groups. It is safe to use and cheaply available in local stores. It also has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. It is gentle on the skin and can be used in people who have sensitive skin. It should be noted that using a higher percentage of glycerin may add to the stickiness of the solution.
